Tremé After Dark: Standing on Legacy, Building Our Future
Raising a glass. Remembering the past. Investing in the future.
Partnering with the New Orleans African American Museum represents the perfect alignment of our shared missions to honor, preserve, and build upon Black cultural contributions in this city. Just as NOAAM works to document and celebrate the rich history of African Americans in New Orleans, at Turning Tables we're fighting to ensure Black and Brown hospitality professionals can reclaim their rightful place in an industry built on their ancestors' knowledge, creativity, and labor. Both our organizations understand that true equity requires not just acknowledging historical injustices, but actively creating pathways toward economic empowerment and leadership. By joining forces with NOAAM, we're making a powerful statement that preserving our past and building our future are inseparable parts of the same vital mission.
Testimonial from friend and partner, Gia M Hamilton
In history, we find strength.
And in solidarity, we build futures our ancestors could only dream of.
This is how we thrive and survive in this moment despite the current administration's policies to erase our legacy and contributions. As Black and Brown hospitality professionals face increasing institutional barriers, our organizations stand as community bulwarks preserving our cultural heritage while creating pathways to generational wealth and access to opportunity. In joining forces, we're creating a cultural sanctuary and third space where our community can honor its past and reimagine all the possibilities of what the future can be. Together, we're demonstrating that cultural preservation and economic empowerment are inseparable parts of the same fight for our community's future!
A night to remember, in collaboration between NOAAM and Turning Tables NOLA
Tremé After Dark was be a night to celebrate that legacy:
An evening of community, culture, art, history, and libations, hosted in the heart of one of the most historically rich neighborhoods in the country. With the rhythms of DJ Pudge, the culinary brilliance of Chef Byron Bradley, and the collaborative energy of Turning Tables alumni and NOAAM leaders, the night was a living testament to the power of coming together, honoring our ancestors, and investing in a brighter tomorrow.
